WMU Esports Arena to host performance and well-being event with expert guest speaker

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擶estern 麻豆传媒应用 University's Esports Arena is holding a special event for enhancing performance and well-being in the world of esports. On Friday, Nov. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the arena, WMU alumnus and renowned guest speaker, Edward Cleland, B.B.A.'04, will delve into vital health and well-being strategies tailored for gamers. This free event is open to the WMU community and the public. Parents and guardians of gamers are also invited to attend to gain valuable insight on how to support young gamers and learn from an industry professional. 

Cleland, the clinical director of (MBE), has traveled the world supporting the best esports organizations, teams and players. Through improving mindset, nutrition habits, physical wellness and life style factors, Cleland and MBE have supported championship winning teams, including G2 Esports CSGO, Evil Geniuses Lol and 100 Thieves Val.

About the WMU Esports Arena

The WMU Esports Arena is a venue for the University and Kalamazoo gaming communities. The venue is one of the very few esports arenas in 麻豆传媒应用 to provide space for practice, tournament play and professional production in one location. The state-of-the-art facility offers 34 gaming machines, of which 10 are competition computers, set in front of a 190-seat auditorium.

About WMU's esports minor

This interdisciplinary program prepares students to enter the industry of esport, giving students a close-up look at the values, ethics, arts and business of video gaming. Working closely with the WMU Esports Arena, students will learn key components of hosting and managing esport tournaments and competitions at the national and global levels.
