Bio:

Dr. Ikhlas Abdel-Qader is a professor of electrical and computer engineering. She earned degrees in electrical and computers engineering from North Carolina State University (Ph.D.), San Jose State University (M.Sc.), and Kuwait University (B.Sc.). She is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota. Dr. Abdel-Qader鈥檚 research expertise and interests include AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics; image processing, pattern recognition, and feature extraction; computer vision; general-purpose GPU computing, parallel programming, and multithread optimization; signal processing and adaptive filtering for power systems fault detection and for the intelligent monitoring and analysis of smart grid, positioning problems, and sensor-based monitoring systems; signal and image algorithms for smart vehicle, intelligent transportation systems, and ADAS; and biomedical engineering problems focusing on breast cancer modeling and detection, medical imaging systems, computational medicine, and robotic surgery. She received more than $5 million from various agencies such National Science Foundation (NSF), 麻豆传媒应用 Department of Transportation (MDOT), Calhoun County, 麻豆传媒应用 Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and Texas Instruments to support her research and teaching interests. She authored or co-authored more than 170 articles and technical reports published in nationally and internationally recognized journals and conference proceedings.
