Esports Summer Camps
WMU Esports summer camps are an introductory series to competitive Esports. All camps are led by experienced WMU Esports coaches and staff and consist of five days going over a variety of topics that are critical to being a successful Esports competitor.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Growth mindset
- Productive communication
- Learning from losses
- How to give/receive feedback
- Emotional management
- Game mechanics
- Game strategy
The advanced camp is intended for gamers who already have a grasp on playing at a higher-than-average level and gives them the opportunity to take their skills to the next level. The camp covers the same curriculum as the beginner camp, but dives deeper into other topics such as strategy, communication and mechanics. Attendees will also have more time to collaborate with counselors for individualized attention.
All camps will meet Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at the WMU Esports Arena. The last day of each camp will be a show match between the campers to exhibit all of the lessons learned during the week, and we strongly encourage family and friends to attend.
Priority registration deadline is May 29. All campers registered by this date will be guaranteed to receive their preferred size of camp shirt.
For questions and inquiries regarding Esports camps, please contact Tavian Napier, Assistant Director for Esports & Arena, via e-mail or at (269) 387-8221
