Faculty Guest Lecture for Global Partners Abroad

The Haenicke Institute for Global Education is seeking interested faculty to apply as guest lecturers for our global partner universities abroad.   

HIGE is announcing two opportunities to visit with our partner universities for guest lecturing, including a financial incentive for travel and expense reimbursement. 

Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), Dominican Republic 

The first opportunity for guest lecturing abroad is with our global partner Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is a location designated as a WMU global hub.  Global Hubs represent a strategy based on driving internationalization initiatives through strong international institutional partnerships.   

WMU has numerous dual degree programs with UNIBE listed below. This is an opportunity to visit UNIBE in the Dominican Republic and guest lecture to UNIBE students, recognizing the recruitment opportunity to engage with potential students who may consider WMU pursuant to any of these dual degree programs. Below are details for interested faculty: 

  • Location: UNIBE Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic 
  • Duration: approximately one week including travel time. 
  • Proposed time frame: WMU spring break week, March 2024. (WMU spring break week dates are March 4-8, 2024) 
  • Financial support: flight, hotel, and per diem for travel expenses. Up to amount: $6,000

  • Advertising and Promotion 
  • Finance 
  • Food and Consumer Package Goods 
  • Integrated Supply Management 
  • Marketing 
  • Sales and Business Marketing 

WMU College of Engineering and Applied Sciences

  • Civil Engineering 

WMU College of Arts and Sciences

  • Psychology

Jakarta International College (JIC), Indonesia 

The second opportunity is with WMU partner, Jakarta International College (JIC) in Indonesia. WMU has a longstanding partner relationship and dual degree programs with JIC . This would provide an opportunity to guest lecture in Indonesia to the JIC students who may also decide to come to WMU for dual degree programs. Below are details for interested faculty: 

  • Location: JIC. Jakarta, Indonesia 
  • Duration: approximately two weeks including travel time. 
  • Proposed time frame:  any two week period from end of Spring semester through summer I session break period 
  • Financial support: flight, hotel, and per diem for travel expenses. Up to amount: $8,000 

Application

To apply for consideration, please submit a letter of interest detailing which program opportunity you are interested in, your topics of interest for guest lectures, your availability for proposed time frame, and your contact information for follow up by HIGE. 

Letters of interest must be submitted to HIGE by the below timeline for each program: 

  • By Dec 1, 2023 for the UNIBE, Dominican Republic guest lectures for Spring 2024. 
  • By Feb 1, 2024 for the JIC, Indonesia guest lectures for Summer 2024.

Selected candidates will be able to meet with HIGE staff for pre-arrival planning and provided with institutional materials in advance of their guest lectures abroad. All letters of interest will be responded to within 30 days of the above submission timelines.  

This initiative supports the internationalization objectives of the WMU strategic through global learning, programming and faculty engagement.
