Soprano Rhea Olivacc茅 is known for her 鈥渧ibrant color鈥 and 鈥渧ivacious abandon鈥. In Spring 2018, Dr. Olivacc茅 reprised the role of Bess in Opera Western Reserve鈥檚 production of Gershwin鈥檚 Porgy and Bess, where she exhibited 鈥渁n especially lovely middle to high range with velvety hues鈥 (Cleveland Classical). Her operatic repertoire includes Mimi and Musetta from Puccini鈥檚 La Boh猫me, Contessa from Mozart鈥檚 Le Nozze di Figaro, Tatyana from Tchaikovsky鈥檚 Eugene Onegin, and Suzel in Mascagni鈥檚 L鈥檃mico Fritz. She has performed with Des Moines Metro Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Western Reserve, and Skylight Music Theatre, among others.
Olivacc茅鈥檚 work as an orchestra soloist has been widely recognized in performing such works as the Mozart, Brahms, Faur茅, and Rutter Requiem Masses, Bach鈥檚 St. John Passion and Magnificat, Mendelssohn鈥檚 Elijah, Beethoven鈥檚 Ninth Symphony, Handel鈥檚 Messiah, and Strauss鈥 Four Last Songs. In spring 2019, she was the soloist in the Midwest debut of Golijov鈥檚 Oceana. She has graced the world-renowned stages of Carnegie Hall and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Olivacc茅 is an alumna of the AIMS program in Graz, Austria, where she was a finalist in the Meistersinger Competition in 2016.
Olivacc茅 is a sought-after recitalist who specializes in African-American Art Songs and Negro Spirituals. She is also a frequent masterclass clinician, having most recently taught at University of Wisconsin, Madison. In summer 2019 she was a Fellow at the NATS Intern program.
Olivacc茅 holds a D.M.A. and M.M. from the University of 麻豆传媒应用 Ann Arbor and a B.M. from Florida International University. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Western 麻豆传媒应用 University in Kalamazoo.
