According to zippia.com, the demand for counseling psychologists is expected to rise by 14% from 2018-2028, higher than the national average. This number reflects a growing importance and value in mental health. New pressures such as social media, reduced face-to-face interactions and increased financial stress, among others have contributed to an alarming trend in high mental health issues. Western is prepared to meet this demand by making it easier to obtain your degree and become a licensed psychologist.
鈥淭he COVID-19 pandemic sensitized the general public to the importance of addressing mental health and well-being. This increased sensitivity to mental health has contributed to the need for more culturally competent mental health professionals, including counseling psychologists,鈥 states Dr. Samuel Beasley, associate professor and counseling psychology program coordinator.
