Honors Thesis Project Timeline
EARLY JUNIOR YEAR
- Begin thinking about a topic.
- Register and take .
- Review the HSIRB website.
- Talk to faculty about ideas.
- Select a chair for the thesis committee. Make sure he/she is familiar with the HSIRB.
LATE JUNIOR YEAR
- Plan to register and take .
- Focus the topic.
- Have the topic approved by the chair of the thesis committee.
- Form the thesis committee.
- Complete the thesis declaration form.
- Begin reading about and designing the project.
- Plan a thesis timeline with the committee.
- Work on the objectives and background.
JUNIOR SPRING AND SUMMER
- Obtain the application and guidelines for submitting the project to the HSIRB.
- Write the protocol and consent form.
- Meet with the thesis committee chair to review the HSIRB protocol.
- Complete the HSIRB application and submit it to the HSIRB office.
- Write revisions as requested by HSIRB.
- Wait for approval from HSIRB.
- Begin data collection.
SENIOR YEAR
- Check in regularly with the thesis committee chair.
- Complete the research.
- Have a draft ready two months before the deadline.
- Review drafts with all committee members.
- Schedule an oral defense with the thesis committee.
- Submit the thesis defense certificate request form.
- Pick up the thesis packet at the Lee Honors College.
- Defend the thesis prior to graduation.
- Submit all required materials as described in the thesis packet within 30 days of graduation.
