The City of Kalamazoo has announced their 2024 Fall Hydrant Flushing schedule, which includes the WMU Campus.

The WMU Parkview Campus area is scheduled to have the hydrants flushed on Thursday, September 19. The Main/East Campus area is scheduled to have the hydrants flushed on Saturday, September 21.

Flushing does not affect the safety of the water supply. However, water may appear cloudy or discolored following the flushing. If this occurs, we recommend running the cold water in your building until the water runs clear again. It is also recommended that light colored laundry be done before the testing or after the water is consistently clear.

Beginning Sept. 9, students, faculty, staff, retirees, and their dependents will be able to receive immunizations against influenza and COVID-19 for the upcoming flu season. High-dose flu shots will be available for those age 65 and up. Make an appointment on the patient portal, and read the Flu Shots Available web page for instructions if you would like to receive both influenza and COVID vaccines at the same appointment. The COVID-19 vaccine may be in limited supply, affecting the health center’s ability to meet demand for both immunizations in one visit.
