ISM tops the list (again!)

The integrated supply management program was once again named a top program for undergraduate supply chain education by Gartner. "Maintaining a top spot on Gartner鈥檚 list for a decade is an amazing accomplishment and demonstrates the value created for our constituents,鈥 says Dr. Zac Williams, director of the Haworth College of Business Center for Integrated Supply Management. The 2020 ranking gives WMU high marks for both its program scope and program size. 
 

Management professor named Fulbright specialist

Dr. Tim Palmer, professor of management and director of the Center for Sustainable Business Practices, has earned a highly competitive Fulbright Specialist Award from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. When Palmer is able to travel to a partner institution, his goal is to develop a service learning project in a way that would mutually benefit the partner institution, their faculty and students, and WMU and his students.
 

WMU students place first at sales competition

A team of two students from WMU Haworth claimed first place at the University of Toledo Invitational Sales Competition. This is the sixth year that WMU has been among the top 10 at the event, placing in the top three in 2019 and 2018. The students outperformed competitors from Oregon State University, University of Wisconsin Whitewater, University of Dayton, Florida State University, Baylor University, University of North Alabama, University of Toledo, Plymouth State University and Kent State University in the final round.
 

Numbers add up for accountancy student who earns $10,000 scholarship

Maddie Cordell, an accountancy student, received a competitive $10,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board for the 2020-21 academic year. The merit-based scholarship is intended to encourage accounting students to pursue careers in audit. Cordell is currently in the Master of Science in Accountancy program. After completing her master鈥檚, she will join Ernst & Young as an assurance staff member at their Chicago office. 

 

Sales and business marketing earns national top program accolades

The sales and business marketing program has once again been named a top national program by the Sales Education Foundation. For the 14th consecutive year, WMU Haworth鈥檚 program was recognized for preparing students for careers in professional selling as well as elevating the sales profession. Home to 320 majors and nearly 1,700 alumni, WMU's program is one of the largest and most renowned in the country.

 

HR professor honored nationally for her impact

Dr. Christina Stamper, professor of management, earned a national student impact award from the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation. The highly competitive award is presented to an SHRM student chapter advisor who has made a positive impact in student members鈥 lives. 鈥淚 was lucky enough not only to have Dr. Stamper as my SEHR advisor but also as my thesis chair鈥攕he is one of the kindest and most motivating professors at Western,鈥 says recent graduate Holly Harmon.

Food marketing students clinch second place at national competition

WMU food and consumer package goods marketing students took second place at the 2021 National Grocers Association Student Case Study Competition, held virtually in spring. The business case for the competition focused on trends associated with the COVID-19 pandemic's massive disruption of the economy, supply chain and store operations, and how retailers with local supply chains are better equipped to adapt to widespread shortages of high-demand products.

Human resource management students win scholarships

Two students won competitive scholarships from the Society for Human Resource Management. The national recognition comes with a merit-based $2,500 SHRM Foundation Undergraduate Academic Scholarship, which recognizes accomplishments, scholastic ability and leadership potential. This year's field was very competitive, and the honor is a testament to the students' commitment to their career preparation.

 

Western's Army ROTC recognized with top cadet in state

A student member of Western 麻豆传媒应用 University's Army ROTC program was once again honored with the title of top cadet in the state of 麻豆传媒应用. Caleb Goodell was awarded the Association of the U.S. Army's Arsenal of Democracy Chapter 2021 Officer's Saber鈥攖he third time a member of the Bronco Battalion has been selected in the past four years the award has been offered.
