Frequently Asked Questions

Over the past five years, several internally generated reports and analyses from external consultants have identified academic advising and student academic support services as areas of opportunity for the University. This work builds upon the efforts of the One WMU Functional Central Advising Team by providing additional guidance and support in generating evidence-based recommendations. This will be critical to provide the University College Leadership team with a roadmap for implementing changes in advising organization, polices, and practices at WMU.

One WMU was designed to be a short-term planning process for the creation of University College. The recommendations generated by the Functional Central Advising team served as a strong foundation and springboard for this work. EAA helps us develop a longer-term process for deepening data collection and to enhance advising recommendations. EAA also provides metrics (key performance indicators) to monitor WMU鈥檚 progress in moving towards aspirational academic advising practices that better align with the conditions of Excellence in Academic Advising.

The Faculty/Staff Outcomes of Academic Advising Survey漏 was sent to all full-time faculty and staff at WMU. Faculty and staff who don鈥檛 have full time advising responsibilities will receive a shorter version of the survey. The Student Outcomes of Academic Advising Survey漏 was sent to a sample of undergraduate students who were enrolled Spring 2021 at WMU. Participants were randomly selected and invited to participate. The results from both surveys will be used to inform EAA recommendations and action plans.
