What is the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Course?

As a new  degree seeking graduate student at WMU, you are required to complete the RCR course. While there are no fees or credit hours earned for this course, this is a university-wide requirement for all graduate programs. The RCR course will appear in your E Learning the first semester you enroll on the first day of classes. Make sure to complete this course before the deadlines below to avoid any holds being placed on your account! Still have questions? Email us at grad-rcr@wmich.edu.

RCR General Information

The Responsible Conduct for Research (RCR) course is required for all new graduate students, RCR course is comprised of several modules and short quizzes at the end of each module. You need to complete the course with a 70% or higher to pass. RCR course will show in E Learning the first semester of enrollment on the first day of classes.  You have until the last day of the semester to complete the course. If you fail to complete the course before the deadline, a hold will be placed on your account until the course is completed. No fee or credit hours are associated with this course. 

Deadlines

  • Fall 2024: December 17, 2024
  • Spring 2025: April 29, 2025
  • Summer I 2025: July 1, 2025
  • Summer II 2025: August 19, 2025

*Graduate Certificate students are not required to complete RCR course.
