Transitioning can be a long and stressful process but the following resources may be able to help with transitioning. The Office of LBGT Student Services does not endorse any specific practice, this is only to share information of what is in the accessible area. The Office of LBGT Student Services encourages those who are considering transitioning to do their own research and ask questions to find the best options that work for them.

Medical providers may abide by  where a letter (or more) from a licensed therapist may be required before proceeding with surgical procedures. Surgical procedures can carry risks depending on age, genetics, and pre-existing conditions. Speak to a trusted medical professional about concerns, questions, and options available to you. .

The following providers are available within the state of 麻豆传媒应用.

  •  (Spectrum Health Comprehensive Breast Clinic) - specializes in chest masculinization (top surgery) and works with a variety of health insurance providers. 
  •  - Dr. Wolf is a plastic surgeon who specializes in trans male chest reconstruction.
    • Insurance and a letter from a therapist are not required (if over the age of 18).
    • Patients can continue taking their testosterone up to the day of procedure.
    • A down payment of half of the total costs of procedure is due up front, financing is available. 
  • - Provides a list of surgeons within the state of 麻豆传媒应用 for a variety of surgical procedures.
  • (CGSP) - Therapist letters are required for all medical procedures.
    • requires only one letter from UM CGSP (insurance may require additional documentation).
    • Any procedures related to genitalia () or reproductive organs () requires two letters of support from licensed professionals.

The following providers are available in neighboring states outside of 麻豆传媒应用.

  •  (OH) - Requires patients to both live fully as their identity and HRT for one year and have a letter from two mental health professionals.
  •  (IN) - Requires an intake appointment to establish care prior to any medical appointments.

  •  Gender Affirming Surgery Program (IL) - Requires a letter from both a mental health and primary care provider.
  •  (IL) -  Requirements for surgery depend on the procedure requested. Patients can discuss with the program coordinator to assist with questions and arrange an in-person evaluation.
