STEP Cohorts
When you are placed in a College of Engineering and Applied Sciences cohort during summer orientation, you are registered for the same two to five courses with other students based on your major and interests. As you begin your first year at Western, you will start to notice familiar faces in each of your classes to encourage connections and peer study groups.
If you are involved in other activities such as marching band or WMU athletics, you may be ineligible for a STEP cohort due to other class requirements. Students who have AP or IB or dual enrollment credits may also have difficulty with placement if their incoming math level is above Calc I. However, if you are unable or elect not to be a STEP cohort, you will still have access to all tutoring, success programs, and resources available through STEP.
If you have any questions regarding STEP cohorts, please contact Anetra Grice.
