The Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology offers unique scholarships and funding opportunities to support students in achieving their academic and professional goals. Explore the options below to discover resources designed to help you succeed.
Scholarships
The scholarship application window is December 1 through March 15 for the following academic year.

- Must be a doctoral student in the educational leadership program
- Must demonstrate their activity and background in the area of school-community relations and other topics related to community education
Scholarship is renewable for a period of up to one year only if the entire award amount was not used in the first year, provided student remains in the Ph.D. in educational leadership program and has satisfactory academic progress.
- Must be enrolled in any graduate degree program within the Department of Educational Leadership, Research, and Technology (ELRT).
- Applicants must express a desire to attain a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership within the ELRT Department, either now, or in the immediate future.
- Because the SEAY Fellowship is designed to support outstanding graduate students, applicants must share how they meet this criterion.
As funds permit, the SEAY Fellowship is renewable for a maximum of three years of support per student, provided the student has made satisfactory progress each year.
- Must be a first-year graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership full- or part-time
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application
- Preference given to students who are current or former public school employees in Southwest Â鶹´«Ã½Ó¦ÓÃ
- Preference given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need
Scholarship is renewable for a period of up to one year only if the entire award amount was not used in the first year, provided student remains a full- or part-time student in the M.A. in educational leadership program and has satisfactory academic progress.
- Must be a student in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology, full-or part-time
- Must have an interest in Student Affairs and Higher Education
- Must be a first-year graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, full-or part-time
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application
- Must demonstrate financial need
Scholarship is renewable for one year provided the student remains a full-time or part-time graduate student in the Educational Leadership program and has demonstrated satisfactory progress.
- Must be pursuing a master’s degree in organizational change leadership, full- or part-time
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application
- Special consideration given to adult students who have experience living or working in diverse environments
- Preference given to single parents
Scholarship is renewable for a period of up to one year only if the entire award amount was not used in the first year, provided student remains a full- or part-time student in the M.A. in organizational change leadership program and has satisfactory academic progress.
- Must be a first-year graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, full-or part-time
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application
- Must demonstrate financial need
Scholarship is renewable for one year provided the student remains a full-time or part-time graduate student in the Educational Leadership program and has demonstrated satisfactory progress.
- Must be a student in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology, full- or part-time
- Must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or above
- Must engage in meaningful academic research or innovative projects aimed at improving K-12 education
- Must collaborate with a school system similar in nature to which Western Â鶹´«Ã½Ó¦Óà University participates with
- Must utilize technology to link the foregoing for advancing K-12 student learning
Funding Opportunities
This fund supports graduate students in ELRT who demonstrate a commitment to fostering global engagement and cultural awareness in U.S. higher education.
The purpose of this fund is to support ELRT graduate students’ travel to meetings or events sponsored by professional organizations to report the results of research, exhibit or perform creative works, or otherwise disseminate the results of their scholarly activity. This fund does not cover conference attendance for other purposes. See additional guidelines.
The purpose of this fund is to support ELRT graduate students actively engaged in independent scholarly research, scientific inquiry, inventive technology, and artistic/creative activity. The research fund supports student needs for active data collection, data synthesis, data handling, data cleaning, and data analysis.
The Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology hires graduate students (typically doctoral students), as needed, to assist faculty with research and program development. In addition, usually one graduate teaching assistant position is available to teach certain undergraduate educational technology courses. Students applying for any of these positions typically must have familiarity with the educational systems and organizations that our programs prepare students to work in. Awards are made in early spring for the following fall semester.
Eligibility criteria
- Must be a student in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology
- Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above
- Must be able to work the required 20 hours of service per week for a full time award
