Events and Activities
The MLK Academy and Multicultural Affairs for Students offer diverse programming including, but not limited to, the following:
- Black History Month鈥擳he department works closely with registered student organizations to host a series of events held in February to provide students with a rich, culturally diverse experience and to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of African Americans.
- Celebrations鈥擳he MLK Academy celebrates and recognizes program participants throughout the academic year with a variety of social and academic events.
- Homecoming鈥擳he Multicultural Review is one of the Multicultural Affairs for Students' annual homecoming events; it is a recognition and celebration of the diversity of cultures at WMU. The event is designed to showcase the many talents of the student body. The showcase usually consists of singing, dancing, poetry or spoken word, skits, art displays, synchronized stepping, and various presentations of talent. The event has been well-attended since its inception in 2001 and is highly anticipated by the student body.
- Hispanic Heritage Month鈥擜 series of events are held in September and October to provide students with a rich, culturally diverse experience and to celebrate the success and accomplishments of Hispanics.
- University-wide programming鈥擜cademy participants take part in a variety of campus-wide collaborative, diverse programming.
