How to Keep Your Scholarship
Congratulations on being selected an MLK scholar! The competition was fierce, and you were one of the chosen few. To ensure that you maintain the scholarship for the next eight semesters, it is imperative that you understand the following expectations.
MLK G.O.L.D. Scholarship Maintenance
Incoming first-year students awarded the MLK G.O.L.D. Scholarship are automatically enrolled in the MLK Jr. Student Scholars Academy, or MLK Academy, and must attend a mandatory 鈥渒ickoff鈥 orientation during Fall Welcome. More information will be provided during the summer.
Requirements
To be in compliance for the scholarship above, the eligibility requirements below must be met:
- Participate actively in the MLK Academy: Activities and assignments, as well as regular meetings, have been developed to address milestones for each tier of the MLK Academy. Please know that activities required for the Academy are never 鈥渏ust because,鈥 but are carefully designed based on our knowledge, experiences, and research. Exposure and completion of these assignments will assist you from your first year here at WMU through graduation.
- Be registered as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours per semester by day of census).
- Earn a minimum 2.5 GPA (cumulative) by the end of spring semester.
- Earn 24 new WMU credit hours by the end of spring semester (no transfers, W鈥檚, or repeats will be counted in scholarship run).
